North Dakota Delta Kappa Gamma
About us...
Alpha Omicron state was founded on November 22, 1940, at the Rudolf Hotel in Valley City. Dr. Annie Webb Blanton made the trip to North Dakota to establish Delta Kappa Gamma in the state.
North Dakota became the thirty-ninth state to initiate a Delta Kappa Gamma chapter. Following a four-course luncheon, the initiation ceremony was performed. Dr. Blanton was assisted in the service by Miss Hazel B. Nielson from Washington, D.C.
The state officers were elected as follows: Miss Hazel B. Nielson, president; Miss Adeline Stevenson, first vice-president; Miss Eleanor Bryson, Minot, second vice-president; Miss Esther Maxwell, Bismarck, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Sadie Walker, Fargo, recording secretary; Miss Vida Austin, Valley City, treasurer; Miss M. Beatrice Johnstone, Grand Forks, parliamentarian.
The state founders were: Vida Austin, Ina Best, Eleanor Bryson, Agnes Davies, Clair Davis, Millie Fristad, Adelaide Phillips Fryor, Mary Beatrice Johnstone, Esther Maxwell, Susan McCoy, Margaret Montgomery, Hazel B. Nielson, Minnie Jean Nielson, Adeline Stevenson-Nurse, Jeanette Harter-Wild, Sadie Walker.
Alpha Chapter of North Dakota was organized immediately after the election of state officers was completed. Valley City had the honor of having the Alpha chapter. Other chapters were soon formed at Bismarck, Fargo, Grand Forks and Minot.
